Audition Schedule for the 2024-2025 Season
May 15th-23rd, 2024
Returning students looking to move up in ensembles are expected to audition in May.
New students who would like their best chance at being placed in more
competitive sections and ensembles, are also encouraged to audition in May.
August auditions are open to new students and by invitation only for existing students.

Eligibility
To be eligible to audition, students must:
- Be taking weekly private lessons on their instrument (if you do not currently have a teacher, please let us know and we'll connect you with an instructor)
- Be enrolled in the corresponding ensemble at their school, if such an ensemble exists. Once registration is complete, we will be contacting all school directors to confirm your participation. If there is a concern, please contact Haley Lovelace at haley@sfysa, or Callie O'Buckley at callie@sfysa.org.
PLACEMENT CRITERIA
The outcome of a student's audition is based on the quality of their rhythm, tempo choice, intonation, pitch accuracy, tone, expressive elements, technique, and scale fluency.

- the student’s grade/age
- the balance and instrumentation of the SFYSA ensembles
- student maturity and leadership in current ensemble
