Emily Maestas
A native of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Education and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis on music. She received both degrees from the New Mexico Highlands University and holds a state of New Mexico teaching license with a Performing Arts endorsement. Previously she has been Brass Instructor at West Las Vegas High school and Mariachi Instructor at the United World College in Montezuma, NM. Emily has been a member of Mariachi Azteca, Mariachi Rio Grande, The New Mexico Army National Guard Band, the NMHU Mariachi, Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. She has represented Mexico in the 2008 Choir Olympics in Graz, Austria and performed in the 2012 Olympics in London, England. Performance highlights include a performance on the NBC Jimmy Fallon show, a televised Johnny Cash Tribute in Austin, Texas, performances for President Barack Obama and President Bill Clinton, as well as Prince Charles of the UK. She has performed alongside Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Richie Cole, Frank "Pancho" Romero, Ronnie Dunn, Preston Garza and Beatriz Airana. Currently Emily is a music teacher in the elementary and middle school choir, band, and Mariachi at the Las Vegas City Schools, as well as an active member and trumpet player of the all-female Mariachi Buenaventura.
