Before becoming the executive director of SFYSA, Andrea worked for Performance Santa Fe (PSF), where she was the Production and Operations Manager, as well as the Education Coordinator for five seasons. At PSF she worked with world-renowned artists in music, dance and theater, as well as administered education programs and collaborated with the Santa Fe Public Schools. She discovered a natural fit for her creativity, leadership, and management skills in the context of the performing arts. While it was amazing and exciting to work with great performing artists of our time, it was particularly inspiring for Andrea to work with young people in music education. She believes a strong Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association is vital to the health and education of Santa Fe children and our community. In Spring of 2017 Andrea was part of the Santa Fe Community Foundation's Emerging Social Sector Leaders Program, an Immersion Program for Developing Leaders. Along with several other local leaders, Andrea participated in an immersive program that weaves together the learning circle model with elements of professional and leadership development.
A member of the Santa Fe community since 1992, Andrea holds a degree in Language and International Trade from Eastern Michigan University, and has prior work experience as an administrator and facilitator in experiential education, as well as practitioner and educator in the health and wellness field. Musical from an early age, she performed in her first piano recital when she was 5 years old, played the recorder and clarinet in school, and found choral singing as a lifeline in high school. In Santa Fe, she has been a soloist and choral member with the Sangre de Cristo Chorale since 1998. She also enjoys the great New Mexico outdoors, metaphysical science, raising her daughter, and playing with their wonderful dog.
